There was a pasta bar, sandwich bar, and plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options every day. The dining on the Celebrity Summit ship was arguably my favorite part of the trip. Every restaurant exceeded my expectations with its fresh and delicious food. On a ship, one of the first things I do is find quiet spots for working and reading. Even with fellow guests around, I still had peaceful areas to take time for myself.
The Solarium Pool
From the live singers and musicians to the DJs and even fun pool games to participate in. While there is plenty for everyone to enjoy on Celebrity Summit, suite passengers will find many more services that cater to them. The Retreat Lounge, for instance, offers concierge service, complimentary drinks and entertainment throughout the day. All the way up on Deck 12, the Retreat Sundeck provides suite passengers with their own sunbathing sanctuary, surrounded by unobstructed ocean views. All of these spaces give cruisers staying in Sky Suites and above a feeling of exclusivity and the ability to enjoy suite perks in private spaces outside of their cabin. Cosmopolitan Restaurant – this two-level restaurant serves as the Celebrity Summit main dining room.

It’s a beautiful restaurant, with a menu that changes each night. You’ll be assigned a dining time and can eat here or choose one of the other options. The ship has 11 guest decks, with 1,079 staterooms, which can accommodate 2,158 guests, double occupancy. The ship never felt crowded during our sailing, but we did see plenty of people on board and in the public spaces. While I’ve always admired the sleek Celebrity Cruise Line ships from afar when docked at various ports, I had never sailed on this cruise line.

There are comfortable chairs (including couches perfect for two), a massive screen on which to watch movies or sporting events, and a bar offering up all sorts of libations. The entire space is perfect for chilling, taking on a slightly different atmosphere after dark. The vibe feels slightly different… in an oddly inexplicable way. One of the big differences between Celebrity cruise ship and their competition is that the casinos, fleet-wide, are smoke-free. As a result, the casino bar can be a pretty popular place, especially on rainy sea days and in the evening.
That crowd tends to go for ships with more bells and whistles than will be found on Summit, where the average age range probably skews between 40-60. All in all, 30 new staterooms were added across several categories. Guests staying in suites can access several exclusive areas, including their sundeck, restaurant, and The Retreat Lounge (which now resides in the formerly occupied by Michael’s Club).

Add 20% gratuity, and it makes drinking an expensive add-on to your cruise fare. Knowing I would drink less than 8-10 drinks daily, I opted to purchase my drinks separately. The Sunset Bar is outside, connected to Oceanview; this is where I ate most of my meals.
Food and Restaurants on the Celebrity Summit
It was so spacious, and the colors were light and airy, with different types of chairs and tables in various sections of the buffet. I loved having time at sea to relax and take advantage of the ship’s activities and amenities. But I still had plenty of time to explore the two ports we visited. Celebrity Summit cruise ship guests can take advantage of many venue options onboard. Cosmopolitan Restaurant, the main dining room, offered a nicer dining experience with cocktails, seafood, appetizers, and entrees.

The color palette is serene and upscale, yet it was so warm and inviting. To give you a bit of background, we have cruised on the Summit twice before, and really enjoy this ship. However, there were areas that were dated and needed a fresher look. Then it was back to the boat to soak up the last day on the ship before returning to Miami.
They offer various production-cast type shows, depending on the sailing. On ours, we took in a performance of December ’63, featuring the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Another popular space is the Martini Bar, which comes complete with an ice-top bar and bartenders who occasionally do some pretty nifty tricks. Right next to the Martini Bar is Crush, which features vodka flights (making it a great place to stop before heading to one of the nightly parties). There’s plenty of seating, including a great outdoor area on the aft of the ship, meaning you can dine al fresco while taking in the incredible views. When ships go into a refurbishment-centric drydock, the staterooms are almost always included in some fashion.
When we’ve had balcony cabins, we really enjoy some coffee outside in the morning and love some time on our own private outdoor space. So we did miss this a little, but still found our cabin very comfortable. So, before getting into the dining, entertainment, and port reviews, I’ll go over our impressions of the ship, post-updates. The first port was Cozumel; this was an easy walk off the ship and into the port. I visited a small beach near the Cozumel cruise port and cooled off in the water. Having a beach day was perfect, as I knew I had a long day at our second port the next day.
On the Celebrity Summit, this area is called the Persian Garden. All of the activities we opted to do were included in the cost of our sailing. However, there were also some additional activities, like fitness classes, that came with an additional expense.
Calming music plays, there is comfortable lounge seating and conversation areas. The main pool area seems to have gotten a nice little face-lift. She has new lounge chairs and the pools have been painted a very pretty shade of sea blue. For an inside cabin, the space was very efficient and the furnishings were really nice, and practical. If you’ve cruised on this ship (or similar ones) before, you’ll notice that the small sofa was replaced with a large chair, and the coffee table is no longer there. Took a 9 day Celebrity Summit cruise in May from Cape Liberty to Bermuda and I whole heartedly agree with this review.
The room had a closet that fit my suitcase, plus a few drawers for clothes. The room was spacious enough to have a small sofa and comfortable to walk in and out of. During the refurbishment, Celebrity Cruises added USB ports to each side of the bed.
